What are some of the beliefs we have around the role of postpartum mothering and mothers?
What are some of the beliefs we have around asking for help?
I have been used to weaving the healing in women’s symptoms and dis-eases. Here I was looking at pure physical body mechanics but the teaching was immense.
I used to say one of the worst parts of a night in the trauma ward was the combination of smells. That mix of blood and alcohol and then urine on top of it is fairly unique. But last night was off the charts and added a far deeper dimension to this matter. When a small very unkempt man lifted his tshirt and jersey and out jumped several fleas! In retrospect it all makes sense. Just the previous year I had felt strongly that when I have my consulting rooms I will make them into a warm cosy and nurturing experience for my clients. I would not have the conventional desk, examination table, clinical doctor experience and setup. I wanted red and warmth and lots of atmosphere to facilitate and support women getting true healing away from the clinical picture we have been socialised to accept as women’s healthcare.
